Instructions for authors submitting to KEJAANS Journal

Overview

Welcome to the Kebbi Journal of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (KEJAANS). We are committed to publishing high-quality research in agriculture and natural sciences.

These guidelines provide detailed information about manuscript preparation, submission requirements, and the editorial process. Please read them carefully before submitting your manuscript.

Submission to KEJAANS shall be on our online platform. Papers could also be submitted as e-mail attachment to the Editor-in-Chief using kejaanseditor@ksusta.edu.ng or kejaans.foa@gmail.com.

Prepare manuscript as a single file in Microsoft Word Format (.doc or .docx)

File size: ≤ 5 MB
File name: First author, month & year (e.g., Ibrahim et al. Aug 2010.doc)

No other formats will be accepted

General Presentation Requirements
  • Language: English
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced
  • Paper size: A4 (210 × 297mm)
  • Margins: At least 3cm on all sides
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Page numbers: Bottom middle
  • File format: MS Word only

Manuscript Sections

  • Title: Concise and explicit, not more than 21 words
  • Format: Uppercase, bold, 14-point Times New Roman
  • Authors: Surname and forenames (in full)
  • Affiliations: Listed with superscripts
  • Corresponding author: Marked with asterisk (*)
  • Contact: Phone number and email address of corresponding author

Abstract Requirements:
  • Maximum 250 words
  • Provide sufficient information for full understanding
  • Avoid paragraphs, footnotes, references, and undefined abbreviations
Keywords:
  • Up to five keywords
  • Separated by semi-colons
  • Normal font (not bold or italic)

  • Concise background to the subject
  • Brief statement of the problem, significance, and purpose
  • Relationship to earlier works with well-acknowledged references
  • Should not be indented

  • Present with adequate clarity for repetition
  • Provide sufficient details of experimental work
  • Techniques and methodologies should be supported with standard references
  • Subheadings in lower case except first letter
  • Use SI unit system

Results:
  • Present concisely
  • Avoid presenting same results in both table and figure (exceptional cases only)
  • Statistical evaluation should be described briefly
Discussion:
  • Point out significance of results
  • Place results in context of other work and theoretical background
  • Results and Discussion may be written separately if author wishes

References Format

Reference Guidelines

Only published articles (journals and proceedings) or books may be cited. Articles with evidence of journal acceptance are considered as "in press" and are also citable. Use Harvard system (name and year) in text.

Tables and Figures

Tables
  • Label serially using Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
  • Include in main manuscript file
  • Clear, concise titles
  • Use capital 'T' for Table in text
Figures
  • Label serially using Arabic numerals (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)
  • High resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  • Clear legends and labels
  • Use capital 'F' for Figure in text
  • Preferably in vector format
Important Notes:
  • Avoid abbreviations at beginning of title, heading, or sentence
  • Standard abbreviations: H, min, s, yr, mo, mm, kg, g, DNA, RNA, cpDNA, dNTP
  • Avoid figures/numbers at beginning of sentence (e.g., write "five seeds" not "5 seeds")
  • Write out one through nine unless a measurement, designator, or range

Important Ethical Considerations

KEJAANS follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. All authors are expected to adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics.

  • Animal experiments: Must have Ethics Clearance Committee approval
  • Human studies: Must include ethical approval statement
  • Plagiarism: All papers undergo plagiarism check (≤20% threshold)
  • Copyright: Authors concede copyright to KEJAANS upon acceptance

  • Submission implies work not published elsewhere
  • Not under consideration by other journals
  • Authors responsible for manuscript content
  • Concede copyright to KEJAANS upon acceptance

Frequently Asked Questions

Manuscripts can be submitted through our online platform or as email attachment to: kejaanseditor@ksusta.edu.ng or kejaans.foa@gmail.com.

Papers with more than 20% similarity in plagiarism check will be returned for reworking and resubmission. Authors are advised to conduct plagiarism checks before submission.

Double-blind peer review by at least two experts. Reviewers provide comprehensive reports using structured evaluation forms. Author identity is concealed during review.

Three issues per annum: January, May, and September. Each issue requires at least 15 accepted articles. KEJAANS may not produce an issue if insufficient articles are ready.

Submission implies the work has not been published elsewhere. Upon acceptance, authors concede copyright to KEJAANS. Authors remain responsible for the content of their manuscripts.
